Experience and position

About Nicolas Mauran

My practice has developed through more than two decades of individual work, groups, retreats, practitioner training and sustained inner exploration.

My work as a psychotherapy practitioner

I began accompanying people in 2004. Since then, I have worked with thousands of participants in individual sessions, workshops, retreats and training programmes. I have facilitated workshops since 2009 and trained psychotherapy practitioners since 2014.

I use the term psychotherapy practitioner as the English equivalent of the French term psychopraticien. This describes my activity without claiming the protected French titles of psychologist, psychiatrist or psychotherapist. My sessions are non-medical and do not include diagnosis or prescription.

A practice shaped by experience

My approach is rooted in depth psychology, attentive listening to the unconscious, emotional work, dreams, waking dreams, bodily experience and what I call subtle perception. I also draw on years of work around spiritual development, while maintaining a clear distinction between an inner experience and an objective fact.

I believe that guiding someone into their own depths requires having seriously explored one's own. This is not a claim to perfection. It is a commitment to recognise projection, uncertainty and personal limits, and to keep the person in front of me at the centre of the work.

How I position the relationship

I do not see the person seeking help as a passive recipient of expertise. We form a working relationship in which I offer presence, experience and guidance, while your perceptions, limits and choices remain decisive. An interpretation is useful only when it connects with lived experience and opens something real.

Limits and referrals

My support does not replace a doctor, psychologist, psychiatrist or emergency service. Some situations require medical assessment, coordinated care or a locally regulated professional. When the needs presented fall outside my framework, the responsible response is to say so and help identify a more appropriate form of support.

Meet online or in Normandy

I receive adults in English by video or telephone and in person in La Ferte Mace, Normandy.
