Psychotherapy practitioner since 2004

Nicolas Mauran

Individual support in English, online by video or phone, or in person at my practice in La Ferte Mace, Normandy.

I offer individual sessions to people who are going through a difficult period, repeating the same painful patterns, or feeling that something deeper needs to change. We begin with what is present now and move at a pace that remains workable for you.

A place to understand what is happening within you

You may come with a clearly identified difficulty: anxiety, panic attacks, depression, burnout, grief, insomnia, relationship problems, loss of meaning, addiction, hypersensitivity, or a major life transition. You may also simply feel that you are no longer living in a way that is true to you.

I am a psychotherapy practitioner, the English expression I use for the French term psychopraticien. I have been practising since 2004. My work is non-medical: I do not diagnose mental-health conditions and my sessions do not replace medical, psychiatric or psychological care when that is needed.

Relief matters, but it may not be the whole answer

Some forms of support focus primarily on reducing a symptom, restoring stability or helping you cope. This can be useful and sometimes essential. Yet a persistent dissatisfaction may remain when the underlying conflict has not been approached.

A person can then move from one consultation to another, receiving something helpful from each practitioner while still feeling that the fundamental issue remains out of reach. My work offers another direction: concentrating on what is essential and approaching the deeper roots of suffering through emotions, bodily sensations, recurring patterns, inner images, dreams and attentive dialogue with the unconscious.

A depth-oriented approach

Going deeper does not mean forcing an interpretation or becoming lost in the past. It means learning to remain present to what has been pushed away, while keeping enough awareness and stability to integrate it. The purpose is not dependence on the practitioner. It is to develop a more direct and autonomous relationship with your own inner life.

This work can be conducted effectively online. Telephone sessions often make listening particularly focused; video provides visual contact; in-person sessions are available in La Ferte Mace. English-speaking adults living in France or abroad are welcome to contact me so that we can confirm whether the setting is appropriate.

Begin with one conversation

The first session is a chance to describe what brings you, experience the way I work and decide freely whether continuing together feels right.
