I do not participate in the Mon soutien psy scheme. I am a psychotherapy practitioner, not a conventioned psychologist, and my sessions are not reimbursed through this programme. This page explains the official scheme before clearly describing the alternative I offer outside it.
What is Mon soutien psy?
Mon soutien psy is a French national health-insurance programme for people aged three and over who experience mild to moderate anxiety, low mood or psychological distress. It provides sessions with psychologists who have entered into an agreement with Assurance Maladie.
You can contact a participating psychologist directly; a doctor's referral letter is no longer required to begin. Coordination with a doctor or psychiatrist can still be appropriate, especially when medication or more complex symptoms are involved.
Who is it intended for?
The programme is designed for mild to moderate psychological difficulties. It is not intended as the sole response to high suicide risk, severe psychiatric disorders, severe eating disorders, substance dependence or situations requiring specialist assessment and treatment.
The first appointment is an assessment. The official pathway provides up to eleven follow-up sessions. Follow-up sessions can be held remotely by agreement, while the initial assessment is normally conducted in person.
Practical limits
Twelve sessions can be enough for an initial stabilisation, a focused problem or a first experience of psychological support. They may be too restrictive for longstanding trauma, deeply rooted relational patterns, recurring panic, addiction, chronic loss of meaning or work that needs an open-ended rhythm.
Participation in the scheme confirms that the professional is a psychologist who meets its administrative criteria. It does not by itself describe that psychologist's therapeutic orientation, availability or training in long-term depth psychotherapy. Some psychologists are very well trained for this work; others focus on assessment, short-term support or different clinical methods.
When might you look outside the scheme?
You may prefer another framework if you want to choose a practitioner for a specific approach, work primarily online, continue beyond the annual limit, or explore the unconscious, dreams, inner images and recurring emotional structures over a longer period.
This is not an argument against reimbursement. Affordability matters, and Mon soutien psy may be the right starting point. The useful question is whether the available framework matches the nature and depth of your need.
What I offer outside Mon soutien psy
My sessions are private and non-reimbursed: €70 for 60 minutes or €100 for 90 minutes. They are available in English by video or telephone, or in person in Normandy. The work can begin with a specific symptom and continue, when appropriate, towards its deeper emotional and unconscious roots.
I do not diagnose, prescribe or replace a psychologist, psychiatrist or doctor. A medical or psychiatric opinion remains necessary whenever the situation calls for it.
